Eclipse Photon supports separating sources and test sources.
There are no functional changes in the IDE, except for test source
folders having a different icon color.
Users of different IDEs than Eclipse are not affected, since the
attribute on the classpath entries will be ignored by their IDE.

The code base has several @SuppressWarnings annotations to suppress
warnings raised by Error Prone, but those are not recognized by
Eclipse and there is currently no way to tell it about them [1].
Suppress them for now.

The commit message template contains a superfluous blank at the end of
the first line, which is deleted by this change. This is only relevant
for jgit contributors using Eclipse, not for jgit users.

There are several different version ranges specified in the various
manifest files.
Align them all to the same range: [4.12,5.0.0)

Do not automatically organize imports using a save action since this
seems to be buggy and removed some annotations org.eclipse.jgit.pgm
needs to use args4j.

Revert the following save actions which were introduced in c0ad77d8:
- always use braces around blocks
- remove unused imports
Other than I expected save actions are run globally on edited files -
and not only on edited code lines only.
Hence revert the save action "Convert control statement bodies to
blocks" which would affect a large number of code lines not affected by
the change editing some small part of a class. This would generate a
large number of changes which may lead to many unnecessary conflicts.
Total number of affected lines across jgit would be around 10k lines.
Also revert "Remove unused imports" since it erroneously removes imports
of some annotations needed by pgm classes using args4j.

Add the following Eclipse save actions executed when saving modified
lines. This should help to reduce manual work needed to maintain a clean
and consistent code style:
- organize imports
- always use braces around blocks
- add missing annotations
- @Override including implementation of interface methods
- @Deprecated
- remove
- unused imports
- unnecessary $NON-NLS$ tags
- redundant type arguments
Also add default values for new settings that were introduced in recent
Eclipse versions up to Neon since we updated save rules the last time.

Since the introduction of generic type parameter inference in Java 7,
it's not necessary to explicitly specify the type of generic parameters.
Enable the warning in Eclipse, and fix all occurrences.

Set missingOverrideAnnotation=warning in Eclipse compiler preferences
which enables the warning:
The method <method> of type <type> should be tagged with @Override
since it actually overrides a superclass method
Justification for this warning is described in:
http://stackoverflow.com/a/94411/381622
Enabling this causes in excess of 1000 warnings across the entire
code-base. They are very easy to fix automatically with Eclipse's
"Quick Fix" tool.
Fix all of them except 2 which cause compilation failure when the
project is built with mvn; add TODO comments on those for further
investigation.

These settings were added by Eclipse simply by touching
the project settings. Adding these makes it simpler to see
what local changes have been made.

The dash signing plugin has been retired hence we need to update our
build to use the CBI jarsigner plugin for signing build results.
Pack test classes to enable signing them.
Also re-enable pack200 for bundle org.eclipse.jgit.
WORKAROUND: there is no easy way to run tests with maven-surefire-plugin
from signed test-jar so for a quick workaround we will have to add a
build step on Hudson so that we can run tests before signing:
- first step will do "clean, verify" to compile and run tests
- second step will do "install, deploy" with profile "eclipse-sign" and
use -DskipTests=true to skip tests since they would hit a
SecurityException when unsigned test classes are in same package as
signed classes under test
- third step will do "clean, install, deploy" on packaging reactor to
build features and p2 repository with profile "eclipse-sign" to sign
and pack200 all bundles.
TODO: Tycho doesn't suport picking up pack200 artifacts via
pomDependencies hence we need to find a way to copy them manually and
use tycho-extra's tycho-p2-extras-plugin:publish-features-and-bundles
to generate the missing p2 metadata.

See change I08bed4275af9ec52aa4d7054067ac82f6a3c9781, where fixing such
warning lead to complaints.
If fixing is not wanted, disable it instead.

`pwd`/target is only valid in Maven Reactor builds where Maven
has moved into the project directory and created a target for
the build output. Most other build systems do not use "target"
and may not even perform a directory change between test suites.
Rewrite LocalDiskRepositoryTestCase's temporary directory code
to use the system specified location and create new unique names.
This prevents fixes between concurrently running tests and allows
the caller to specify the root using java.io.tmpdir.
Update the surefire command lines to use target within each project as
the system temporary directory during unit testing, preventing JGit's
own test suite from writing to /tmp or somewhere like C:\tmp.

This breaks all existing callers once. Applications are not supposed
to build against the internal storage API unless they can accept API
churn and make necessary updates as versions change.

Note the the settings are slightly less restrictive for test bundles.
-Also cleanup a couple of malformed javadocs
-Update compiler warnings/errors to include default values from Juno
-We now flag diagnosed null dereference as error. We didn't do that
earlier because of some false positives.

If project.init() isn't called GitCloneTaskTest fails when started from
Eclipse, according to [1] calling init() is necessary to properly
initialize the Ant project programmatically.
Always set the destination folder in order to ensure that all test
resources are created under the project's target folder and do not
pollute the project's source tree with test data.

This only works with Eclipse 3.6 and newer and requires installation
of new package. Documentation is not very good, but there is a blog
about it here:
http://eclipseandjazz.blogspot.com/2011/10/of-invalid-references-to-system.html
API checking is especially useful on OS X where Java5 is not readily
available.
